While there are a number of both specialist and generalist web awards, we felt there was room for a Prize, which focuses purely on excellence in web design.
The Prize aims to recognize and reward excellence in web design in the broadest sense, from the appropriate use of technology, to design aesthetics, to its impact more broadly on the web.
We recognise that excellence can't be assessed simply in terms of the technologies used, nor simply the aesthetics of a site. It combines how a site is developed, how it works for the user, how it meets the needs of people with disabilities, what it looks like, and of course much more.
The Prize also aims to be a showcase of the best in Australian web design, and to inspire other Australian developers in their own endeavours.
